The Right Time. The Right Place. The Right Thing.

The CCR aims to promote enduring and sustainable economic development rooted in natural resources for the broader Waynesboro community, leveraging the city’s spring-fed river, skilled workforce, and strategic location near colleges, universities, national parks, and interstate highways.

THE RIGHT TIME

Timing is everything. We hear it said every day, and Waynesboro is a city that’s regaining its stride thanks to recent economic initiatives, available business sites, corporate interest and downtown revitalization. It’s a community with a proud tradition of innovative industry and hard working citizens. People are taking notice. Corporations, and federal, state and local agencies have recently recognized that Waynesboro is a good investment by awarding it over 1.2 million dollars for downtown development. These entities, and more, tell investors and citizens alike that it’s the right time for investment in Waynesboro.

THE RIGHT PLACE

Who doesn’t appreciate beauty, convenience and economic readiness? Waynesboro has them all. Centrally located in the scenic and historic Shenandoah Valley at the crossroads of interstate highways 64 and 81, with easy rail access, it is an ideal location for business, industry, education and governmental agencies. Recreational opportunities abound and world renowned Shenandoah National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway are at the doorstep. History, music, entertainment venues and acclaimed universities are in close proximity. In downtown Waynesboro there is at-the-ready Infrastructure, availability of a historic industrial landmark park and a city ready for project realization. As additional encouragement, the Virginia General Assembly has directed the Secretary of Natural Resources to evaluate agency location to Waynesboro.

THE RIGHT THING

Jobs. Economic Vitality. Education. Restoration. Each are integral pieces of the Center’s structure. The CCR will provide jobs and local and regional economic stimulus, foster tourism, and promote revitalization of our central business district. The Center will encourage “green processes” through utilization of existing space, low impact hatchery practices, restoration of damaged natural resources and replacement of depleted native fish populations. Through scientific research with allied institutions and universities, hatchery development will bring global focus to Waynesboro from the agricultural fish industry while providing a convenient locale for governmental agencies, an added tourist destination, growing new business opportunities and adding to economic development for Waynesboro and beyond.
